Selectioned Prints
from the Italian
Series
There are over 30 prints in this group of small etchings that were created after two visits to Italy in the early nineties. Most the the images are very loosely made, starting by using a litho crayon as a resist to give the works texture and a strong atmospheric feel, with many plates being burnished and scraped. Many of the works focus on a small segment of architecture like a door, window, or archway; some even use irregular shaped plates to emphasize a "piece or fragment." The works are one of the first major series I rendered as a printmaker at Avonwood Press. Most all of these prints are still availabe. |
